Introduction Spoiler:

Hello ladies! Cool

I'm looking for your help! You can fasten the development of TAA by doing good research for us, may it be a few pictures of a unit, may it be a translation for a unit name, may it be a unit in general...

Since it occurs at times that I work solely, it'd be always good to save some time. Wink

So here we go! Please refer in your answers ALWAYS to the related task number. Thank you. Smile

Oh, just one more thing...

You can always play Europa Barbarorum, they have a huge number of units, 100% historically correct. And you have "live pics" there, too. I don't guess, I say.

Task 2: Use Google Translate

- I think Hetairos sounds cooler than the English Companion, which sounds gay.
- Odi̱gó̱ntas [epítheto o̱s monáda próthema?̱ "O i̱géti̱s"
- Émpeirous
- Vasilikó (the name Basil derives from here)
- Archaďkí̱ (just like Tsatziki)
- Klassikí̱

GT has no idea at the second part. Confused

Task 3: Draft meaning icon, descr, portrait, etc.?

It's good for drafts, but not for names, cause they're all in plural.

Uhm, Ancient Greek is not the same as Modern Greek darling and they also don't have Aramaic, eh? Don't you think I would have used that already?

Reads like Modern Greek, I need ANCIENT GREEK. Rolling Eyes

draft meaning pictures.
description meaning summed up texts (if you only post the link, you didn't understand what to do)

Just refer to the task you're doin like

"TASK 2"

and then you just do what's required in there. In that case: translate the word into Ancient Greek or from Ancient Greece to English

In case you used a site for this, please post the URL. Easy, isn't it?

TASK 2

Quote:

What means:

- Promachos
- Somatophulakes
- Empeiros
- Ploion Emporos

promachoi derives from "pro" which means "forward" and "machi" which means "battle" so it means the men who fought in the 1st line (this is the translation in greek BUT i am not 100% sure)

somatophulakes means "bodyguards" i am 10000000% sure about this, but i think you should write it "somatoph Y lakes" or "somatoph I lakes" cuz its spelled like i (same as Idiot) and not as u (even if it is written with "u" in greek-remember, greek "U" is spelled "I" and not "u"

empeiros means "experienced", absolutely sure about that. but the "ei" is spelled as "i", like in "idiot" as i already told

ploion emporos means the "ship which is used for commerce and not for war or exploration" (ploion is ship and emporos is merchant). however again the "oi" is spelled like "i" (idiot) and the "e" in emporos is spelled like the "e" in the word "basket".

Hope i helped and sry for 2post

Task2:

Hetairos, what do you want more Hetairos Makedonikoi? sounds superflous, like calling the legionary: Legionarius Romanus.

"Agema ton" as prefix or "Agematos" as postfix, but I've mentioned that already.

royal Is Basilikos beta is transcribed as v in modern greek(and eta as i) in ancient greek it's transcribes as b(and e)

for what do you need classic and archaic? classical greeks would never call their hoplites "classical hoplites" its a rather modern terminology like "medieval knights".

europabarbarorum

Task 3

- Achaemenid Horse Archer
- Parthian Horse Archer
Spoiler:

number 3 can also be used as Achaemenid HA the early one is not at all persian but from the Tribe of the Parni the predecessors of the Parthians when they were still nomadic and lived in the north of the persian/seleucid empire

- Sassanid Horse Archer
Spoiler:

the guy to the left(not the "savaran" or the gal)

here it's the middle one Wink

- Achaemenid Cavalry (in general, whatever you can find and seems correct)
Spoiler:

the upper left one

- Paighan
Spoiler:

- Indian Elephant
Spoiler:

the riders are clearly seleucid tho

- Cataphract Elephant
Spoiler:

it's a Indian elephant used by the Seleucids tho

sillyly the Legionaries here wear LS rather than chainmail although it's the 4th century ad tiss tiss

- Aswaran
I only found Asawaran
Spoiler:

a parthian Asawaran of the Azad aristocracy

- Zhayedan
Spoiler:

- Pushtigban
Spoiler:

very interesting for Sassanid units
this is a good selection aswell

sources:
europabarbarorum
Invasio Barbarorum
Osprey
Iranchamber

the rest are just remotely reliable or use one of them as source anyway, nonetheless they give quite enough insiration for texturers
