concerning 1) : lots of good looking lasses or a Salami party?
concerning 2) : alone or with a good looking lass?

hmmm, only if stability includes pleasure
It might just be restless old me, but I don't get any pleasure or happyness from stability itself. _________________ Imagine not that these four walls contain the Mighty Owl of Thebes. For, gentles all, beauty sits most closely to them it can construe

Wouldn't make a difference as far as I am concerned.

I'm sure Wash meant stability in some state of contentment. Obviously changing conditions (if they were for the better) would be preferable if you lived in a gulag. _________________

why did I know you would say something like that?
Well in that case I assume there is a certain amount of pleasure involved in the Status quo. Lot's of mid fourties know that having a stable marriage with a woman that does not make you happy(in whatever way that may be) is not at all preferrable to ... anything
What I meant was that stability does not have many intrinsic Qualities. It's only the appreciation for the Status Quo combined with the risk of worsening the Situation otherwise that make Stability appealing. _________________ Imagine not that these four walls contain the Mighty Owl of Thebes. Five and a half years of experience?

While that may be true in some cases, I suspect it is not in even more cases. Besides, putting out with each other during the grumpy stages of life is one of the main points of marriage, and while you naturally shouldn't live in misery together I doubt the best thing to do is to give up and go separate ways at first sign of trouble.
Also, a study conducted in Sweden let old people pick during which age span they found the quality of their sex life the highest (frequency and pleasure). The result?
Spoiler:
Their 50's

Of course not, but neither does the opposite. _________________

I explicitly used the word happy, it thus includes everything from just having great juggs* to such things as being happy to get home so you can have a bowl of your favorite stew.

But this was Stability vs Pleasure, not stability vs ... Change.
*a really bad reason btw. in the Long term smaller ones have proven preferable, especially as they naturally get bigger at one Point in a relation and are also much less subject to gravity.
hmmm, This is not very romantic. let's rather praise Washs mental power, resisting that Succubus.^^ _________________ Imagine not that these four walls contain the Mighty Owl of Thebes. For, gentles all, beauty sits most closely to them it can construe

Oh, I meant nothing different. Or, well, I don't really think it is the responsibility of the woman to make sure there is stew whenever the man comes home.*
That stuff about 50's was just a related piece of interesting trivia.

You're right It's a kind of strange comparison, I suppose.

That's only a romantic story if their best friends get together, but fall out at a party so that Jacob and Mallory will have to communicate a great deal to in order to meddle between them (they will in the end break up but remain friends), until, in an unexpected turn, their own feelings for each other suddenly grow or are reawakened, leading to some kissing in an ice cream parlour where they don't need to pay anything or eat the ice cream.
That's what American films have taught me.
*Stew is much to effortless to make _________________
