Raiding is a strategy usually comps play with, but sometimes players use cavalry to raid enemy villagers. Without further ado, i present storming.
Storming is a strategy i made up a few mornings ago when i woke up. The reason it was called storming was because there was a storm outside and i think "hotspots....3-6 barracks....Raiding...STORMING!" I use it constantly in battles, and i will tell you what it is.
Storming is like raiding, but from all sides. What does this mean? You send 5-10 cavalry/infantry from 3-6 hotspots. A hotspot is like a foward base, but with 1 barracks/stable/art foundry. This can really help because if the first strom fails, then you can easily send in more troops. Water maps are even better because you can land troops at all sides. What you do to make it work: a) send in 5-10 cavalry troops in 1 area, leading most of the enemies army to destroy it. b) send all troops from the hotspots in. c) pillage. It works pretty well because it is a suprise attack from all sides but from a). You dont have to have to make it cav, sometimes i mix in infantry and maybe horse artillery/leather cannon. Storming is great with Prussia and Sweden, because Prussia has many unique units that are good, and Sweden because 102 atk fusilers and leather cannon. It can easily overwhelm an enemy and cut off most escape lines.
Storming is usually used in treaty games as i talked about above. IF you want to try a rush game with it, it will work, but with a very experienced player. You would have to have lots of wood to build barracks/stables at the hotspots, and i dont think it would work real well. _________________ Roy1012

If you are playing a treaty game you're dumb if you don't expect the enemy to try and attack from more than one side. There are stupid people out there, certainly, but if you build your base in the right way and have proper lookout posts it is possible to counter.
Spreading out your army too much also risk making your own position more vurnerable. _________________

Success or not depends quite a lot on the type of map and the type of game your opponent plays.
I've both used it and won and used it and failed, as well as faced it and won and faced it and failed. _________________

I works excellently in a rush game with Prussia on Rhine. The two free towers give you two free teutonic knights (and although they wont be available in the next version they just kick ass)+you get free units from all military buildings and with your hc-cards (if you chose the right ones: Uhlan Officiers and Schützen Officiers), so you can easily mass an army of excellent units with only collecting wood for military buildings, tps and houses. And always remember: prussian units heal over time so there's nothing wrong with a retreat. |

Rhine doesn't feel like a natural map to use such a strategy on, because of the natural bottlenecks the river crossings provide. _________________

Oh, right.
You also start with an outpost wagon on the Texas map, right? Texas would allow for easier surrounding than Rhine - though one is less than two. _________________
