PostPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2016 4:30 pm    Post subject: New NE FAQ

Since the very first release of NE in January 2006 there were people asking questions on future plans and the chance to include some of their - sometimes overly individual - wishes and suggestions for this free project.

Some questions have become real evergreens such as Will there be a singleplayer campaign for NE? or the annoying (because unanswerable) question for the next release date, ideally requested in a level of detail that includes month, day, hour, minute and second. Wink (jk!)

Long time ago the honorable SAOL wrote this extensive FAQ for NE 2.01, which is outdated by now in large parts, but was still used as a base for the newer version. Shortly after the release of NE 2.1.7 we started gathering all these questions to publish this new Napoleonic Era FAQ:

The new FAQ was written by me, Firestorm and Earkalspea. We hope people will finally find answers to the (most) frequently asked questions there. The FAQ will be updated by us when needed.

Think we forgot a question? Then let us know! Mr. Green

to use proper terminology for the question if wotta and ne will merge you must use wars of liberty instead of war of the triple alliance because wotta is the past

So I hope the consulate will be reworked. I think instead of existing European nations consulates should have the tributaries.

Damn. The FAQ looks really nice now, and is a lot more informative. Very nice work.

Laughed pretty hard at the last FAQ. Maybe it's just my personal opinion, but I already see WoL (or WotTL, as the FAQ suggests) as a super-Mega mod.

Are you also going to revamp the Civilizations tab in the near future, Tilanus? (Just wondering, because some information is somewhat outdated and/or incorrect) Or are you waiting for the release of 2.2?

The last question is marvellous. IMHO it should be carved in gold letters at the site's header image.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! The FAQ doesn't look being that much of work (because it's just text "simple" text, right?), but in fact we started long ago with this and it took us very long to find/filter/select the right questions, nail the wording, keep it short, simple and easy to read. It might also not surprise the FAQ was none of the things with high priority and consequently didn't receive much attention and updates over several months.

Yea surely, we're gonna update that page and all the other ones. We also plan to do one for natives. As you imagined though it makes a lot of sense to update this page at the same time the civs get got updated.

You forgot one:
Why aren't we going to include breech loading weapons and rifles in this mod?
Answer:
They aren't in the time frame.

We should include a Minie ball upgrade though. Like a small increase to ROF and damage in age 5.

Miniť balls were invented after the Napoleonic war. They won't even include the Hall or Ferguson rifles, which were pretty important. Any inventions after 1815 they won't include, but one could make a submod...

As Macedonia (I refuse to type "Makedonia", Rome 2 propoganda) said, the minieball wasn't used until the Crimean War (Also the American Civil War), in the 1850's and the 1860's. The NE timeline is the 1550's - 1815, so no.

How come Tilanus doesn't want the Ferguson or Hall rifles? Those were made during Napoleonic era.
