Hello, I read in another topic music suggestions for NE. Good to see that as expressed by the developer himself there will be considerable space for Baroque music. I am a true fan of the Baroque and would like to suggest some songs.
I can not say that I really like to play NE so my congratulations to you for this great mod.
Does anyone on the NE team or others fans speak Portuguese? That would really help me. |

Welcome man!
Don't know what are the plans of the Team for musics as I'm not a NE Team member, but if you need anything I do speak Portuguese fluently - tuga here - and there is a Brazilian fan also.
As for the musics, I don't know what to say... just it's not my type and even though I like to ear these kind of melodies when I'm playing, I don't have great taste to choose them
Cuz of the circumstances I guess, it just starts sounding in my mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22aafk_gbko (min 0:30)
You can't blame me Its Martin Garrix
With you it seems like a lusophone gang is coming into shape over here ahahahah _________________ "Não há derrotas quando é firme o passo.

Given that this forum came back to life after long time I think some necroing wouldn't be bad.
I already put up a list of public domain pieces which I find suitable and some are on your list as well: http://ne.elpea.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2307&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0. What we both did wrong was sticking to Baroque composers. C.P.E. Bach is an absolute must unless Tilanus plans to make the mod a truly Napoleonic Era, in which case we should stick to late Classical and early Romantic pieces. _________________ "Let us return to the past; it will be progress."

I quoted baroque works only, which is what I like the most, but I can also quote songs from the following periods. By the way, I think one must be Tchaikovsky - 1802 Overture.
In the coming days, I will be listing some works by Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Schubert, Verdi, Rossini among others ... |

I'm less familiar with early Romanticism and Beethoveen, because in the past three years I was studying Classical Era music quite intensively and I can name you a ton of pieces worth hearing. The problem is the Classical approach to music promoted lengthy and horizontally elaborate pieces what makes them quite hard to serve as soundtracks (I mean it: 1st movement of a typical Classical concerto lasts about 15 minutes; my personal observation is that if the opening movement is very long then it is a high quality composition because the composer had hard time leaving the piece - Kozeluch's Sinfonia Concertante in Eb major is a great example with its 18 minutes long 1st movement which is a world class masterpiece). Soundtracks also need something expressive to happen through the whole piece but a lengthy and highy expressive piece would be exhausting to the listener in the long run, so Classical pieces are usually calmer than Baroque and Romantic.
Some of the most intense Classical Era pieces I can name from memory:
W.A. Mozart: 1st mov. of Symphony no. 25 in G minor
W.A. Mozart: Quam olim Abrahae from Requiem in D minor
W.A. Mozart: A cenar teco (finale) from Don Giovanni
W.A. Mozart: Fugue from Adagio and Fugue for Strings in C minor
W.A. Mozart: Qui tollis from Missa longa et solemnis in C minor (the Great Mass)
W.A. Mozart: Agnus Dei from Missa brevis et solemnis in C minor (Waisenhausmesse)
F.J. Haydn: Kyrie from Missa in angustiis in D minor (Nelson's Mass)
F.L. Gassmann: 4th mov. of String Quartet no. 3 in E minor
C.P.E. Bach: most of his Sturm und Drang symphonies _________________ "Let us return to the past; it will be progress."

Still on the Baroque, I forgot to mention two:
Johann Heinrich Schmelzer - Balletto a Cavallo
https://youtu.be/E7Ssimb6EiA
Johann Joseph Fux: 'Concentus Musico-Instrumentalis' Op.1 Ouverture à 6 in G minor, K355
https://youtu.be/5V3urb7ekZ4
As unfortunately I do not have much knowledge of classical and romantic school music I could not find songs that I think are good to my taste, besides I can only remember germans, italians and russians composers of these periods, I think that is enough to mention. |

I know its not the style you "seek", but here is an album of War theme musics and melodies. And damn it's a good one!
https://www.jamendo.com/album/149133/cinematic-volume-10-epic-choir
For me they are all cool, although some don't really fit the kind of music this game asks for, but these I think we could use:
"Swords of Fire"; "Rise of a Legend"; "Hercules"; "The Last Stand"; "Tonight, We Die Heroes" and "Surrendering The Castle"
Thank my Godfather, it was he who shared this on fb
So what do you think?? _________________ "Não há derrotas quando é firme o passo.

Hey Prince,
I think your suggestions fit very well for moments of battle
At the end of the matches, it would be nice to hear:
In case of victory, Verdi's triumphal march
In case of defeat, Requiem et Kyrie, the introduction of Michael Haydn's Requiem |

I've just stumbled across a piece perfectly suited for a soundtrack:
Michel Corrette: Organ Concerto no. 1 in G major, 2nd movement
Corrette is also very expressive for a Classical Era composer (you can hear his Baroque training easily) and his pieces are relatively short, I would highly recommend his music for the sountrack. _________________ "Let us return to the past; it will be progress."

Hy Pawelec,
I thought this was your suggestion, and I confess I did not know Michel Corrette.
Thank you now, I have a new composer to study. |

I don't know how could I have not posted this earlier... I completely forgot the absolute masterpieces made by Two Steps From Hell and Thomas Bergersen.
It's all epic music, not baroque and perhaps not what you are looking for, but for a War game, it's definitely appropriated, unless its's a war game from the Napoleonic era and in that case perhaps it's not appropriated.
All the albums are great, but this 3 pieces of art could be in NE (in my humble and modest opinion of course) :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5Q_TSNk-p4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKRUPYrAQoE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izsjRpcgfmk
And why not this one too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NGtL3HUPUo
There are sooo many soooo cool...
Another great one is "To Glory" but perhaps that one doesn't fit.
Perhaps none of this fit but what I meant is to post some masterpieces and make you have a good headache in the hour you choose to decide which musics are going to be in the mod.
