On a more serious note, some paid work has come up again at Forgotten Empires that I need to deal with first. The plan still stands to release a modding report next where I'm going to update everyone on the mod's status and release notes of NE 2.2.

This is great news, just read the notes of the modding report, just increase even more the expectation ... Mr. Green
I am looking forward to know how my beloved Portugal and Austria will be in NE 2.2 Hooray! Hooray! ^^

Thanks for the reply.

There is rumor that Aoe3 DE is not developing by Forgotten Empires but another team. While you probably can't confirm or deny this yet just like other FE staffs, I think this reply is a confirmation that yourself are not working on Aoe3 DE, which is quite sad, as I always think you're the best person to do this job. Sad

@Ivenend thanks for the compliment, I feel humbled! Again, I can neither deny nor confirm anything that hasn't been announced yet. Developers sadly live a lonely life in isolation, windows closed, etc. Wink

When I read this thread after several years of absence (oh my, how time flies), I was very sad to see this mod not having a definite version with at least the many changes Tilanus teased us in the Modding reports. After the lightening a small glimpse of hope, that there would be one, I do not see a final version coming.

As I had some time on my hands during the last 10 days, I decided to get my hands on AoE modding for the first time. I have no clue about modelling nor am I too good as a Pixel artists. So I was stuck mainly with rearranging the HCs and the stuff already there in proto, techtree and randommaps. I still achieved a few things to bring NE a bit closer to what I always expected it to be. Unfortunately I caught an AI-crashing error, which I cannot find a way to fix. I'm about to scrap my work (which is not so much, just some 20hrs+some WiP), esp. compared to what Tilanus invested into this project.

I would still love to see a final version of NE, which I have accompanied for so long. If I can be of any help in this, let me know, T.


General:
Spoiler:

    1st age combat: with the discovery age combat shipment, battles with archaic units (pikeman, handcannoneer, archer, Demi-Lancer, Cav Archer+unique replacements) can be fought in age I already. Hussars, Drabants, Uhlans etc. now are available only from age III on with the Demi-Lancer (using the lancer icon and the condottieri modell) taking their place as early cav for European civs.
    New Hero-("lategame")-units: which are not op but have abilities and require micro but can give a distinctive advantage on the battlefield.
    Reduced amount of techs and buildings: removed some arsenal as well as berry-gathering techs, merged University and capitol
    Priests now counter heros (similar to the inquisitor, which I removed/merged)
    New Standard units/shipments: Patriotism (increases natives damage agaisnt mercenaries), TEAM 1 heavy cannon, State Religion (increases priests damage against heroes), Advanced Agriculture available for all civs, Pressed Sailors (decreased shipbuilding time), Marine Infantry (ships train units faster and frigates and caravals can now train musk type units), fireships for everyone!
    New mercenaries: Indian Sepoys (musketeer), Polish Lisowczyk (Oprichnik), Zaporozhian Tabor (Dragoon/Warwagon), Cheveauleger (Dragoon, replacing Elmeti), Bedouin (melee counter-cavalry like DHH on camelback)
    Redone Natives: Westphalians and Wurttembergers received some care and sport now some new techs such as Bauernkrieg, Reichsritter (former HRE shipment), Landesaufnahme and King's German Legion; Native shipments in HCs
    Various small fixes: numbers, names, shipments
    Plans: Adjusting Revolutions and Politicians, unique Revolutions, realise new concept/merger for bandits and mercenaries, flexible spawning of militia (former minuteman+upgrades), update Malteese+Mongols (->Tartars), merging Egyptians and Tuareg natives

Austria:

inherited the TC/age-up bonus from Portugal and received some shipments concerning the Spanish Riding School, Lippizaners and Polish Winged Hussars from Prussia, removed some church techs, Grenzers weaker
RG: Standschütze (Skirmisher), Magyar Huszar (Hussar)
Plans: Merging Keep and Watchtower into a medium kind of fortification which could train Grenzers (+Grenzer removed from barracks, replacing minuteman/militia)

Saxony: Garde du Corps-Uhlan;
Wurttemberg/Palatine: Horse Grenadier-Grenadier;

Plans: replace Dragoner with Mounted Rifleman with good range but very fragile, redone age-up system consisting of the same four prince electorates every time+maybe fame as resource to guide circle armies creation (like export for asian civs)

This is impressive.
For the General Part, I think it's in line with what was designed early on for the mod. For the plans here: I would like to see an updated Maltese Settlement - and Map as well Mr. Green

As for the civs, it's very cool. Would be better with new icons tho - I can't take Ottoman archers seriously with them having that icon lol

Just don't agree with the weakening of the Dragoons of the Portuguese Crown Devil
Ohh... And it was called Ordenança*. Yeah insignificant detail I pointed out just to sound like real nerd Mr. Green

I hope a Definitive Edition of NE is released in the short future.
After all, it was the first mod I tried and really liked.

It's an amazing project and it really deserves one, not only for the great fan base, but mostly for the effort made for it for so many years. This can not end like nothing. It's far too great to die just like that.

So please Tilanus, make it happen winking Napoleon
