that's true, but you can manipulate the game at certain rate, if they did it that way it was because of something, and getting personalities of every single one of the civs, specially the ones from TWC and TAD, would be hard

This game is kind of dissapointing to ME. I miss the historical value and the large battles of AoEII. It was much more expandable, especially after the Expansion.

You think AoE 2 has larger battles than 3? I always end up with a smaller army in 2(which sadly doesn't work anymore because my new graphics card doesn't support it Crying or Very sad )

Sickis for you Mowen Sad , anywho, it was easy for me to manhandle the map and my enemys. I even went to the luxury of over construction. I would build siege castles near by enemy castles, it would be composed of a castle, military buildings, two walls slightly seperated to create a corridor, and my men would be on defensive until ebough men were there to attack...it was AWOSME! I even remember making battalions of those musketeers that belonged to sarracens...or was it Persian? I don't know, but they owned.

Yeah, AoE2 had bigger armies, I agree.

@topic - Personality A vs. Personality A is indeed stupid. That's the reason. Even civil war factions had not the same leaders, aye? Would be called 'Suicide Wars' then.

the only way you can do a bigger war is to raise the pop level, in aoe 2 each unit costed only one pop point, maybe this could be added as modification for the game, to raise the pop level to 300 or so, that way we could have bigger wars, and in aoe 2 there were no personalities, all enemies acted the same way, just that with different units, that`s why personalities exist, for all enemies not to act the same every time, and spanish vs spanish would be very silly

What if artillery had no pop count but had a limit of 10 each? No spamming, no pop problem, and more infantry!

it would be good, that way personalities wouldn`t be able to train like 20 artillery units, and artillery and mercenaries are the ones that take more population, but still it's better if they raise the population cap to 300, and reduce the population slots that artillery takes.

I don't think htey can change the pop cap, that or they lied to me once...Those Bastards! Mad

But I hate seeing armys of mercenaries, although they were used in great numbers in colonial wars, maybe to be more realistic: Mercenaries can be weak units in mass numbers early in the game that can be bought in mass with "free" gold that arrives to the colony for the first few minutes(maybe just a couple of crates or so). Then, Official military soldiers can be produced for a hefty price and delivered to the colony in large numbers.

Is there a way that I, the player, can change the files in order to select which civs will be in the 14 AI slots for TAD? For example, I'd rather play against the Dutch, instead of the Aztecs..

An artillery limit might be a good thing, but civs would need different ones and right now I don't know if that is possible. I know these unit priority problems concerning artillery and mercs. It's disgusting seeing OP unit armies. Of course they deserved it due to a good economy, but it's just disturbing losing that way.

Hehe, you can't raise it, definitely, just give units no pop and limits, but that would also limit the relations of unit varieties.
