Haha total fail on my part lol

persia and Carthage would indeed be VERY appreciated there is still alot of research to do there. minor civs research is always good to have.

the beta will include Romans Hellenes and some natives(and maps).
were working on natives according to maps so work on tracians will start when we've got someone working on Balkan maps.

Hey. I noticed this mod a while back and decided to see if I could help in any way. The chosen era is one of special interest to me (just to be clear though: what is the approximate timeframe of TAA?) and I am very interested in helping with research as well as texturing. I can send a few examples of textures that I have done (they aren't the best, but I'm learning).

I don't have MSN, but I can get it if it's a necessity.

So...yeah. I want this mod to come out soon so that I can play it, and I figure the best way to speed up the process is to help out Mr. Green.

You're welcome. Smile

Defining the timeframe is not that easy due to the historical rise and fall of several cultures (like Hellenes). Since it's a game we have to focus on periods where all of our 5 civs existed and also adjust the timeline always a bit for our purpose, so out of necessity there will also be some irregularities, it's just impossible to have full realism and keep up good entertainment and gameplay. Since we're not done with all I can't tell you where exactly we do begin, but I guess 300-400 AD is a good period to end with. Wink

As for favorite cultures, I'd have to say the Islamic, Byzantine and Incan cultures are the ones I'm most interested in, or know the most about. But those are all out of the timeframe for this mod Mr. Green. Oh well, might as well brush up on pre-Islamic Persia and Carthage/North Africa Smile. I'd also really be interested in doing research for the minor civs and mercenaries.

Nice to see someone being interesting in alternative cultures! That will probably be useful. Everything else you dont know can be researched, that's the purpose of researches. Wink

As I understand it, the beta will only include Rome and the Hellenes? So I presume that those two have pretty much been fully researched?

The beta: yes. The alpha: no. Both civs reached a similar grade of detailed research, however, the Hellenes are still missing lots of units and general art (icons, portraits, ..). Romans are very far progressed.

I will post a couple of textures I made tomorrow probably since it's late. As I said, they are hardly the greatest, but I figure I can improve.

Nice! Can't wait to see them. =)

California eh? ^^

No problem, I'm from Germany, but I'm a night worker Wink

Yep, the 1st release will only have Romans and Hellenes (and some natives, maybe Thracians).

To point that out, that is not correct. The first release will only contain Romans.

This is the Sacred Band unit, a possible unit for Carthage. It should have a shield, but I couldn't get it to work properly(it was glowing ridiculously bright). It could also be a spearman unit.

I have seen the glowing problem before. It doesn't actually matter, as it only shows up on a small minority of computers.

Nice textures. thumbs up! thumbs up!

Is this a pikeman with a longbow helmet? Seems like that. Pikeman due to the gloves and the longbow helmet is well-known for me ... I guess. ^^

It looks pretty good though, you have the basic skills for texturing and constructing own units via AnimFile. You don't see people like that that often! thumbs up! Wink I'm sure you can support Ca Putt for the first time and also skin some native units. Did you already try building texturing?

I can hopefully teach you all the other stuff that you don't know Smile

Thanks. One of the things I have no idea how to do is edit the "bump" textures. These give the unit detail, correct? I all see is a mess of purple Embarassed. I was trying to make the gloves look like gauntlets, but they are not shiny enough. Is the shine also controlled by the bump textures?

And yes, it is a 3rd age pike with the longbow helmet.

I have never tried editing a building texture.

+full agree with Tilanus, the basics are there.

the bumpmap mainly defines where a skin reflects light and the according alpha layer defines how much. thus if you make the alpha white you have a unit that is constantly concealed by a bright light aura Mr. Green

Ca Putt described it very well.

There's no big difference in detail, you just have more files to do in case you are completely retexturing a building in all it's (building) phases. There are also own textures for a damaged building. Wink

When you have MSN please contact me, you find my address in my profile Wink

The moel looks cool. But Sacred Band?...this doesn't sound too realistic.
