I have noticed that the swedish men politely asks "Vad är ditt kommand?" when clicked upon. This is a direct translation of the english prase "what is your command?"

The word "kommand" does not exist in swedish. The word "kommando" on the other hand does exist.

Thus is the prase "vad är ditt kommand" impossible to say in correct sweidsh. It should be "vad är ditt kommando", but that sound almost as stupid to me.

It might sound silly, but find this very annoying Mad. It is sa sad proof of the anglosaxoficaton of my fellow citizens. Crying or Very sad

Sorry, my swedish is hardly existent. I trusted a native speaker, what else can I do? ^^

Can you think of any alternative words with the same meaning? - and way more interesting, could you record it with appropriate quality?

Yes yes, nobody's perfect, eh? Mr. Green

There is a lot of alternatives, of course.Confused I coluld make a long, long list Cool. It all comes down to the question: do you want it realistic or funny. Or perhaps a mix? I don't have the energy to do it this very second, even though we are on autumn break; it is 22:28 and we just changed to winter time. Sleeping Smiley

Sorry, I do not have the equipment needed at the moment.

Well.. more than a day or two has passed, so I tought I could do it now.

Firstly, I must say that the phrases is well picked by whoever did it, exept for all phrases containig the non-existant word "kommand". At least it does not appear in SAOL and SAOB, ehich are regarded to be the "official" dictionaries. Note that this doesn't apply to the question "Kommendör?". I should also point out that one unit, I can't remember which, but I think it is the Drabant, the Skirm or the leather gun Confused , says "Redo" = ready when confirming a location. A word in the wrong place, that is... And the player is refered to as "the King" by the soldiers, I don't now how you feel about that, but I don't mind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You could vary attack phrases with such things as (if we are to remain as relistic as possible, and excluding the ones that already exist)

Gå på! (ni gossar blå)= Hard to translate, litteraly "walk on" but it really means attack. Fits hand attack units or musks best. Traditionally used. (=boys in blue)

Lägg an! = Present arms! Traditionally used.

Vem vill bli lingonmos? = Who wants to become (look like) mashed lingonberrys?. Sinister and self-confident. (but not really vey good)

Till attack! = To attack! or "Go attacking" or just "attack" Oftenly used.

Låt oss pröva det svenska stålet! = lets try the swedish steel ( common way of speech)

Svenska stålet biter! = the swedish steel bites (common way of speech, espessialy at success)

Döda! Döda! Döda!= Kill! Kill! Kill!

Skona ingen/ Ingen barmhärtighet!. = No mercy!

Ge fyr= Fire, fittingly for gunpowder units, espessially cannon.

Tveka aldrig!= Never hesitate!

This list could go on for long, and I am to lazy to add more this precise moment, but I migt add something from time to time...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To confirm selection you have a more limited selection. But:

Klara för uppbrott= ready to move/ break camp.

Till er tjänst= At Your service. Before the phrase you can add the names of the soldiers.
Musköterare= musketeers
Pikanerare= Pikemen
Dragoner= dragoons
Livdrabanter= Life Guards= "drabants"
Artilleri= artillery
Hilebarderare= Hilbarders
Grenardjärer= Grenadiers

Uppdrag?= Auftrag?= assignment?

Again I might come up with some more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
To confirm location on the map I can suggest the additional following

Vi är på väg= On our way

Genast= at once

Som Ni önskar= as you wish ( similar to "ja, min kung= Yes, my king)

Framåt (Marsh!) = Forward (March!)

Inga problem= Not a problem

Bra= good. (may also be used at attack)

Höger! Vänster!= Left! Right!

Självklart= Of course!

I repete my statements fom above.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to now what the settlers say more presicely, ask me! At the moment they just say "chop" "hack" "build" "hunt" and so on when tasked to do duties. They are probably the hardest to come up wit good lines for.

If You have any questions I will try to answer them as quick as possible. Wink I am well educated in my own language and history, and equally glad to help if I can Smile

I have a feeling I have forgotten to write something.... something big and important. Confused How very annoying. Well, if i remember it I will write it. Perhaps you will find it before I do Mr. Green .

Ah oh yes, it might be fittingly to make one ar two units speak finnish. Let's be fair, they did make up a big part of our army. Similar to the multilingual Austrian army. Smile Can't hep you with that, though Sad

Sorry for the spelling and grammar, my mistakes multiply with ten when I am typing on a keyboard compared to pencil and paper... Embarassed

I just had an idea. Maybe I could ask my old swedish clan, which I accidentally left, on eso, to record some swedish sounds. There must be someone up for the task there. Perhaps even a woman for the female settler sounds.

If you are interested I will be happy to bother them for you Mr. Green . If we are lucky, someone may also speak finnish and/or sami. Wink

DO IT!!!

Seriously, that would save us so much trouble. Just make sure you double-check some things. For instance, the sounds should each be relatively unique in voice, short, and of a decent audio quality. If you're bothering to help us on this, it should be with as little misunderstanding as possible, so be sure to keep us up to date with this. Thanks in advance if you can do this.

I will try my best. But it is, sadly enough, a possibility that my old clan members won't help me. But I don't think so. I will report as soon as I possibly can. I only have two of the members on my friend list, and I haven't been logged on for three months.

And if you want as few missunderstandings as possible, I would be greatfull for some closer instructions; that would probably help. Smile

I failed to contact the leader on ESO, but I actually managed to find his and his clans forum today. Cool So I made a little, well a rather big and honey dripping, advert. All I can do now is to wait for replies, and hope that my effort won't be fruitless. But I was as charming as I could be, and you all know that I can be charming Topmodel .

Perhaps someone will come here with questions, beware! It is important that you make a good impression and answer quickly, otherwise they might feel it isn't worth the effort. Take this as a good peice of advise.

*edit* 2008-12-13

The clan leader told me that he would try to spread the word.
