Yeah, the thing of a guy that doesn't fit into the page has happened to me like 3 or 4 times, it's quite annoying to see that a good drawing ended up not being good just because of that

When I come back I'll have finished my secret modding tool though, so everyone will think I'm awesome anyways.

EDIT: Also, I'll probably have learned how to do something useful and finished my other commitments by the time we're on to the Persians/Carthaginians, so I might be back on the core team by then.

Yeah, but I didn't actually work on it for more than 5 minutes.

My tool will be able to do that in about 5 minutes, so yeah Drago, it will hopefully make .xml editing a thing of the past. I don't know how much it will speed stuff up as I don't really code the modding much at all.

Anyway, Tilanus, how much do you think it would speed up modding if you had a program that gave you an editable list of units and their stats (also techs buildings, etc. and hotkeys Wink) rather than an editable list of units and their stats buried under a pile of xml format and split into seventeen different files...

Now Tilanus is probably going to tell me that there is a tool for that already he just didn't bother telling me about. I'm hopeful though, because if he tells me about it I'll murder him, so he might decide to keep it at laughing as I re-invent the wheel...

There's no big difference, you can sum up all the written tags to buttons or labels, but the only advantage is that you dont make typos when writing tags. However, you gotta add special tags still on your own and that works I think best in code. I'm using PSPad for XML coding, it has a code explorer, you can open and close all sections of an XML document, that gives you a fast overview in a long file. In the end you gotta write something, in spite of being buried under a pile of xml format tags or in a shiny program frame with buttons and labels. It's a difference of seconds, but as you know we dont count in seconds. Wink
