Heya ho! I'd like to hear some comments on certain aspects of the game and see how we can combine that with our imaginations.

This thread is also available in the intern forum, there are two reasons why this is also public: 1) In case the team isn't effectively working on this, you guys can help me out! Mr. Green 2) You might come up with original ideas or better values than the team, in this case this would lead into a constructive discussion! Cool

So this a balance thread. Here we go:

I want you to develop a system for XP and train time values.

Post all of your suggestions and changes into this thread.

Find minimum and average values for these three attributes classes!

XP are calculated on the basis of the total res cost * 0,1 thus a unit that costs 75 f and 25 g gives 10 XP upon training and 10 when killed.
Buildings either give their res cost *0,2 on construction and cost*0,4 when destroyed or (for most unit training buildings) o,1 when built 0,2 when destroyed.
The exception proves the rule thus some units and buildings have special XP values to reflect how honorable/defieable... it was to build/train this unit/Building.

Unit Attributes:
TrainPoints (Build Time)
Resource cost
LOS

Building Attributes:
TrainPoints (Build Time)
Resource cost
LOS

Technology Attributes:
Costs
ResearchPoints (Development time)

HC Cards
1. What's the criterium for something becoming a HC card?

a) In view of gameplay: What's the main purpose of HC cards compared to technologies?

2. When should a HC card cost natural resources? Which cards would that be?
3. Would you put cards into the HC which costs more than one shipment? Why?

4. Natives: When does it make sense to make them a regular shipment?
a) Should they always cost natural resources?

Greets

The Team

I like ur idea of public reasearches. Keep going Mr. Green

Ok...I'll respond to the HC qs later.

Average? I don't think u can't find an avergage. For every unit, simple, but... Confused

Im not too good at LOS and such, but maybe a "normal" cav time for the more expensive? Mercs have a too long training time, since you just buy them.

Yeah, you'd think real people would take longer...
Unless the train time accounts for the mercs sailing/marching to your base.

In this case though, the mercenaries wouldn't need to make the two month trip across the Atlantic ocean, but only march across Europe. Which doesn't take too long...

YOU try marching across thousands of miles of partially mountainous land with no roads, transport...

I expect it would take a few months to a year or so. Well, you probably not being a soldier accustomed to long marches, more likely a whole lot longer.

A mercanary would often be more trained than a regular conscript, making it easier.

It would also of course vary. It'll take less time to recruit Greece mercanariees when you are in Greece than to recruit Greece mercenaries when you are fighting in Germany, and vice versa. Rolling Eyes

A small group of people, say 10 mercenary recruits, would also be able to travel much faster than an army of 30 000, since the logistics are much less complicated.

That's interesting to see, in our intern forum the discussion is more mathematical than here. Probably we're gonna meet ourselves in the middle. Devil

Natives... Yes, well maybe they could cost natural resources, like food, or some tech needed before you can ship them, like a follow up upgrade ( lol )

What if you grade each card by factors

1: It can be sent several times
2: Ships a lot of units
3: Ships exeptionally powerful units
x: And others

If you grade each attribute at a scale of 1 to 5, then multiplicate them (for instance 5*5*5 or 1*1*2) every card that gets a product that is bigger than... say... 50 should cost something. Then the cost gets higher the higher the product gets. You could for instance multiply the product with a certain number, say 5, to work out the cost.

The values could of course be changed. Maybe the limit for when a card starts to cost should be lower, or maybe there should be a cost calculated for every card, but each that get a sum under hum-di-di is free, while a fixed sum is subtracted from the actuall sum of the cards that cost...

Just brainstorming.

Or you could trust your intuition. Devil
